"Turning Pain into Purpose"

……he continued to have unprotected sex with me, even when he became sick. My ‘husband’ would beat and slap me when l would refuse….. When l fell sick, they took me to hospital They said I was HIV positive …… I cried The doctor said “wipe yours tears, the world is sick”
RACHAEL 14
Rachael was withdrawn from a forced marriage, counselled, rehabilitated and enrolled into our Second Chance Education Scholarship Program. Her dream is to become a lawyer and defend those who can't defend themselves.
Pitch black was the night as only African nights can be. She bit her teeth so hard as she shook her head sideways in deep pain. She was calling her mother. The pain was imaginable. Elderly village women had gathered since afternoon encouraging her to push…. “the baby is in wrong position, instead of the head, it is a hand” said one of the women. She made one loud noise and it was all silent. At this village the angel of death was known to people’s souls shortly after midnight. That was the time when ELLEN died. She was only 15.
