Eligibility Criteria for participation in Re-Connecting with Nature in Africa TV Expedition 2025
- Re-Connecting with Nature in Africa Expedition seeks individuals who are not just adventurers but compassionate change-makers ready to embark on a transformative journey of making the world a better place. To ensure the safety and success of all participants, we have established the following eligibility criteria:
- Humanitarian Experience:
- Participants should have a proven background in humanitarian work, community service, service men or ex-service men, medical practitioners, members of the justice fraternity, counselors or related fields, passionate to travel to Africa with a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
- Mental Well-being Commitment:
- Individuals must recognize the importance of mental well-being and be committed to addressing their own emotional needs. This expedition is designed to rejuvenate the mind, and participants should be open to self-reflection and personal growth.
- Physical Fitness:
- The expedition involves immersive experiences in nature and community development activities. Participants should be in good physical health to fully engage in these activities. A basic level of fitness is required to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Passion for Climate Action:
- An inherent passion for climate action and environmental conservation is essential. Participants should be eager to contribute to initiatives aimed at addressing global challenges, such as climate change and poverty alleviation.
- Cultural Sensitivity:
- Given the diverse communities participants will interact with, cultural sensitivity is crucial. An understanding and respect for different cultures, traditions, and customs are required to ensure positive engagement with local communities.
- Commitment to Experiential Learning:
- Participants should embrace the concept of experiential learning and be willing to actively participate in scientifically-crafted expeditions. The expedition serves as a proof of concept, and participants should approach it with curiosity and a desire to learn.
- Team Player Mindset:
- Collaboration is at the heart of this expedition. Participants should be team players, ready to collaborate with fellow humanitarian heroes and contribute collectively to community development initiatives.
- Age and Legal Requirements:
- Participants must be at least 21 years old. Legal and health requirements for international travel must be met, including a valid passport and necessary vaccinations. Participants under the prescribed age will be required to seek signed consent of their next of kin/guardian/parent.
- Language Proficiency:
- Proficiency in English is required to ensure effective communication and collaboration within the diverse group of participants.
- Ability to Fundraise
- At the heart of Re-Connecting with Nature Expedition is the collective power to make a positive impact on the world. As we embark on this transformative journey, we recognize the importance of participants’ ability to contribute not only through their presence but also through their capacity to fundraise. Participants will fundraise to raise their participation fees as well as fundraise upon their return to the US to improve communities where the expedition took place in Africa.
- Commitment to Post-Expedition Impact:
- Participants should commit to leveraging their experience to create positive change post-expedition. This will involve sharing their stories upon their return to the United States as part of a fundraiser during the month of Thanks Giving (November) to support well-being, poverty alleviation and actively contributing to humanitarian and environmental initiatives in African communities where the Expedition took place.
